Hawaii :: At the beach

Pearl slept in the tent the entire time we were there. She was perfect.

Lars and Adam spent the entire time building sand castles. Lars also liked burying himself in the sand. And yes, we got sunscreen EVERYWHERE - so he did not burn his buns.

The elephants could come up really close - like within 5 feet! One elephant was picking up leaves from over the fence and eating them. Lars was a little unsure.

Lars got a blister. All we heard the rest of the day was "Oww" - and he was done with shoes for the day.

Pearl :: First plane ride!

So sweet together

Lars is the best big brother. When Pearl cries he says "Pearl" in a really sad voice and wants to pick her up. When he gets to hold her he pats her back and says "awww." When he finds a baby toy he brings it to her - and pacifiers too. He was holding her in the top photo patting her back and she burped. He was so thrilled the smile on his face was priceless.

Lars :: Applesauce Bath

Last week Lars wanted a bath. He had just had one the night before, so it wasn't needed and we didn't really have time. So I said no. He dropped it and went to play for a few minutes. Then he decided he wanted applesauce - and wanted to feed himself. He has done fine with feeding himself over the last few days - so I let him. The first three bites went in his mouth - then the next three went over his head, on his face and down his front. Then he declared he needed a bath. He was right - and he got one.

Three days earlier he had made a mess while feeding himself applesauce and got a bath. He remembered... We're in trouble if he can already reason.

Lars coloring on the floor with chalk. He thought he was really clever laying on the step to draw. And we all ended up covered in chalk dust. At least it mops up in minutes.

Lars's First Sickness

Lars had his first real illness on Sunday - with actual big boy throw up and everything. I had to go to a "lunch" to celebrate Rob and Susan's marriage - but Adam stayed home and tried to keep him entertained with his old remote controlled Jeep. Lars loves the Jeep and would play with it 24/7 if allowed.
